The workshop

Wisorino began from a simple observation: an object carrying a name, a date or a few words stops being an object. It becomes a marker — something you don’t throw away, that moves house with you, that gets passed on.

The wood first

We work mainly in birch plywood, for a prosaic reason: it is stable, it engraves cleanly, and its pale tone makes the engraving contrast without needing any stain. Every board is checked before cutting — one badly placed knot and the piece goes to scrap.

Cut, sand, check

Cutting and engraving are done by laser, which guarantees consistent precision. Everything else is done by hand: sanding the edges, removing dust, checking the spelling — twice, because a misspelled name cannot be salvaged.

The preview before the cut

This is the rule we never bend: for any personalised piece, you receive a mock-up by email before the machine starts. You approve it, or you correct it. It costs us one exchange of emails; it saves you a ruined gift.

And the metal

More recently we have added wall pieces in laser-cut steel with a matte black powder coat. A more graphic, more contemporary material that suits interiors where wood alone would read as too soft.
